Hold the phone or the menu where you would actually hold it, not closer, and try the lower power first. Too much magnification narrows the range where things are sharp and can leave you feeling like you have to lean in to find the sweet spot.

The honest limitations
Ready-made readers are a standardized product, and there are real things they do not do.
- They assume both eyes need the same correction. The magnifying power is identical left and right. Plenty of people have meaningfully different needs in each eye, and a ready-made pair cannot account for that.
- They do not correct astigmatism. If your vision is blurry rather than simply too close to focus on, magnification is not the answer, and stronger readers will not fix it.
- They do not correct distance vision. The top of the lens has no correction in it at all. If you need glasses to see far away, these are not a substitute.
- They are not a prescription product. We are not a prescription eyewear retailer and do not offer prescription lenses.
- They are not an eye exam. Trouble reading can have causes other than ordinary presbyopia, and only an eye doctor can tell you which one you have.
Who these are not for
If you already wear prescription glasses for distance, bifocal sunglass readers are the wrong tool, because you would lose your distance correction the moment you put them on. Look at fit-over sunglasses instead, which go over your existing glasses and keep your prescription working.
